Pulisic Reflects on His Career and Future AspirationsPulisic Reflects on His Career and Future Aspirations

Christian Pulisic embarked on his European journey in 2015 when he joined Borussia Dortmund as a teenager. Since then, he has enjoyed stints with prominent clubs in both the Premier League and Serie A, achieving significant success, including becoming a Champions League winner. Currently at AC Milan, Pulisic continues to set personal records but has not yet signed a contract extension with the club.

He has expressed his comfort at San Siro, where he frequently receives visits from his girlfriend, golf professional Alexa Melton. Looking ahead, Pulisic envisions a potential long career, possibly spanning another decade, which could include a return to the United States.

In an interview with Paramount+, Pulisic spoke about his growth, stating, “My Italian has improved significantly, and I feel more confident in interviews now. Initially, I struggled with telephone interviews since I couldn’t see the interviewer. I feel that I have reached a similar level to when I was more fluent in German. I enjoy my time here; the Italian culture is calm, and the food is excellent. It definitely surpasses London.”

When reflecting on his future after football, Pulisic shared, “I’ve contemplated this. It largely depends on how my career unfolds. I will definitely spend some time back in the United States as I have been away from my family for a long time.”

He drew inspiration from his current teammate and Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modric, remarking, “It’s challenging to determine the right time to retire. Observing Modric, I see at least a decade of play ahead of me. I aspire to continue for as long as possible. Seeing him perform at 40 is remarkable. I hope to achieve that longevity, too. We are fortunate to have this career.”

Though he has recently been managing an injury, Pulisic has still made an impact this season with six goals for Milan, following 17 goals last season and 15 in his debut campaign with the Rossoneri. He is widely regarded as a ‘world-class’ talent, with much still to accomplish at the highest level of football.

Pulisic described his current stage as a prime moment in his career: “I feel like I am at a good age and in my best physical condition. I have learned a lot. I always hope my prime is the upcoming season, but if this is it, I want to savor it. I genuinely believe I’m experiencing my best moment in football right now.”

He also discussed his ambitious goals for the team, stating, “Winning the Scudetto is definitely our target. I prefer not to view it negatively; it’s about our performance in each game. There have been seasons without silverware, yet we accomplished great things. Winning a trophy is unparalleled; it validates our hard work.”

Regarding personal scoring goals, he emphasized, “That’s a private matter for me. There’s already considerable pressure, and I don’t see the need to add to it. People often underestimate the pressure we place on ourselves. I set high standards for myself, as all professionals do, to aid the team’s success.”

Pulisic’s contract with AC Milan extends to 2027, with an option for an additional year. While the club has aimed to negotiate a new deal recognizing his significance to the team, the necessary paperwork remains unsigned, leaving room for speculation about his potential movement in the upcoming transfer window.
