omidbasir- Quinten Timber is currently on a contract nearing its end with Feyenoord, which contributed to his decision to relinquish the captaincy last summer. Coach Robin van Persie surprisingly appointed summer acquisition Sem Steijn as the new captain, although he too has since lost the armband. Timber has expressed his dissatisfaction with Van Persie’s choice.

In an interview with De Telegraaf, Timber shared that the decision to strip him of the captaincy was disheartening. “Naturally, it affects you both as a person and as a player when you’re no longer the captain. It’s a tremendous honor to wear that armband. However, I quickly put it behind me to focus entirely on football. For me, that chapter is now closed.”

Timber’s disappointment at the beginning of the season was compounded when Steijn also expressed his unhappiness at Van Persie’s recent decision to appoint Timon Wellenreuther as the new captain. Steijn did not react positively to the announcement from the technical staff. “Sem was indeed disappointed, but that was my decision,” Van Persie stated, as quoted by Voetbal International.

Regarding the situation, Van Persie added, “Sem reflected on this and decided to focus on himself, his recovery, and his own game. That is his right, but otherwise, we would have had four captains: Timon, Sem, Anis, and Givairo. Due to Sem’s choice, we now have just three.”
