Ram n Terrats Reflects on His Journey at EspanyolRam n Terrats Reflects on His Journey at Espanyol

Ramón Terrats joined Espanyol this summer from Villarreal, arriving in Barcelona with great enthusiasm due to his deep-rooted affection for the club. As a lifelong supporter and member of the white-and-blue community, he is living out a dream. Despite showcasing promising performances during preseason, Terrats has found limited playing time this season. However, he made his mark as a starter in the recent victory against Sevilla at the RCDE Stadium.

On his adjustment to the team, Terrats stated, “I am gradually adapting to a new environment. Although many might think I have been here forever, this is not the case. I am surrounded by new people, teammates, and a new club. I feel good and am adapting well, but I acknowledge that I need time. Recently, I felt much more confident and eager to continue growing.”

He expressed his surprise at the genuine atmosphere within Espanyol: “I always knew it was a great club, but experiencing it from the inside is different. It is very humble, and the people are very approachable—not just the players, but everyone connected to the club. I believe this fosters a positive environment that contributes to our success.”

Addressing the competition within the squad, he remarked, “We have a large roster where everyone competes intensely for their positions. It is crucial to earn your place in training, and ultimately, it is the coach’s decision who plays. I think the real dilemma lies with him, as it can be challenging to choose from such a talented group. Both those on the field and those on the bench are performing well, and I believe everyone will have their moment.”

Regarding the match against Sevilla, he shared, “It was calm yet intense. They are a highly competitive team that wins many duels. We had a strong start, but they dominated us for a spell. Nevertheless, we remained composed, executed our game plan well, and ultimately secured the victory thanks to the team’s efforts and the support of our fans. Playing at home always amplifies that push from the crowd.”

Commenting on Manolo González’s coaching style, he stated, “We compete, fight, and run, which is essential for our success. If we stop doing these things, we won’t win. This mentality is part of our DNA and is vital for the team’s focus and ability to win games.”

He praised González as a very approachable coach: “He demands a lot from us, but he also encourages me to remain calm and confident. He wants me to take the ball, play my game, compete hard, and mirror what most players are doing.”

Looking ahead to the upcoming match against Celta, Terrats commented, “Celta has many young players similar to us who possess great ball control. However, they may face challenges as they are competing in two tournaments this week. We need to give our all, win duels, and be effective in the box.”
