Head coach Danny Rohl is optimistic about the Rangers’ squad improvements, asserting that the team has “increased the quality in the squad” despite a decrease in player numbers.

The recent addition of forward Ryan Naderi, 22, marks the club’s fourth acquisition during the winter transfer window, joining midfielder Tochi Chukwuani, winger Andreas Skov Olsen, and left-back Tuur Rommens. Meanwhile, three players have been loaned out, and both Kieran Dowell and Joe Rothwell have departed on permanent transfers.

Rohl hinted at the possibility of further exits, as transfer windows in various regions remain open. There is speculation that Wales winger Rabbi Matondo may seek an early termination of his contract, which expires at the end of the season, while forward Danilo has been linked with a loan move to NEC Nijmegen.

“I’m very positive about this,” Rohl commented regarding the turnover of players. “Not only about the incoming transfers but also how we managed the outgoing ones. I’m very satisfied with what we have accomplished thus far. We have reduced numbers but increased the quality within the squad.”

Discussing Naderi, who joined from Hansa Rostock, Rohl expressed his delight: “I’m very pleased that we were able to sign him, albeit at a late stage. It was a lengthy process, but he demonstrated a clear desire to join us. We monitored his progress over the past few weeks and months. He has scored goals, provided assists, and possesses the physical attributes we need up front. He will need some time to adapt to the new league.”

Rohl compared Naderi to German forwards Fredi Bobic and Nick Woltemade, the latter currently with Newcastle United, while Bobic retired in 2006.

As the Scottish Premiership leaders, Heart of Midlothian could extend their lead to nine points over Celtic and Rangers with a victory against St Mirren on Tuesday evening. Rangers will host Kilmarnock on Wednesday, while Celtic face Aberdeen away.

“We have at least two more matches against them,” Rohl noted regarding the consistent performance of Hearts. “We have the potential to win many games until the end of the season. While I cannot guarantee victories in all 14 remaining matches due to the challenges posed by opponents, I firmly believe this group has what it takes to advance in these final stages.”
