Rayo Vallecano Considers Butarque as Backup Venue for Upcoming DerbyRayo Vallecano Considers Butarque as Backup Venue for Upcoming Derby

omidbasir- The Butarque Stadium in Leganés is currently the only alternative being considered by Rayo Vallecano for their upcoming derby against Atlético Madrid, should they be unable to host the match at their home ground, Estadio de Vallecas. The club remains optimistic and has not ruled out the possibility of playing in Vallecas.

Five days after the postponement of the match against Real Oviedo due to the poor condition of the pitch, which was fully replaced just 48 hours before the scheduled game, uncertainties about the viability of the pitch for the derby against Atlético Madrid continue to loom.

Rayo Vallecano officials express confidence that the new turf will settle and be ready for use by Sunday, as they reported to EFE on Wednesday. Royalverd, the company responsible for the turf installation, is making every effort to ensure the pitch’s readiness, working in shifts throughout the day and night alongside Rayo Vallecano representatives.

The forecast of rain in Madrid over the coming days contributes to the uncertainty, as a lack of moisture would have resolved the issue. To address the humidity problem, the team is employing heaters, water pumps, and other equipment to improve the situation.

What is clear from Rayo Vallecano is that if Vallecas proves unplayable, Butarque will be the only alternative, as they have ruled out using the Metropolitano Stadium to avoid giving Atlético Madrid a competitive advantage by making them feel more at home.

LaLiga officials are conducting daily visits to Estadio de Vallecas to monitor progress and prepare a report that will inform the final decision. Rayo Vallecano aims to explore all possibilities of playing at Vallecas, but a decision from LaLiga is expected between Thursday and Friday, in case a relocation to Leganés is necessary, where the local club has offered full support.
