RB Leipzig has officially announced the signing of Dutch teenage attacking talent, Ayodele Thomas. According to reports from Philipp Hinze of Sky Germany, the Eredivisie club PSV Eindhoven has agreed to a transfer fee of €400,000, which includes a three-percent resale clause. Thomas’s contract with RB Leipzig extends until 2031.

The announcement of Thomas’s signing was somewhat overshadowed by Leipzig’s revelation regarding the unexpected loan acquisition of Brighton attacker Brajan Gruda. Notably, this loan deal does not include a purchase option. Brighton will receive a loan fee of €1 million as part of this temporary arrangement.

RB Leipzig is focused on building for the future, having recently acquired 18-year-old Thomas, alongside 19-year-old Suleiman Sani and 20-year-old Abdoul Koné. These acquisitions reflect the club’s commitment to nurturing young talent. Thomas has primarily played for the PSV reserves this season, while RB head coach Ole Werner has emphasized that Sani will receive ample opportunity for development. Koné is set to join the club after the season concludes.

“Dele is a significant talent and aligns perfectly with our playing philosophy,” stated RB Leipzig’s sporting director, Marcel Schäfer, in a club statement. “He is a quick, agile winger who consistently looks to challenge opponents. He poses a genuine goal threat, is eager to take shots, and can deliver the decisive final ball.

“We are bringing Dele in now to ensure he has the time needed to acclimate. We are delighted that he has chosen RB Leipzig, allowing us to develop him progressively and assist him in reaching his exceptional potential,” Schäfer continued.

Expressing his enthusiasm, Thomas remarked, “I am thrilled to be a part of RB Leipzig. The club has consistently demonstrated its commitment to supporting and developing young players to help them improve. I aim to showcase my abilities in the Bundesliga, which is recognized as one of the top leagues in the world.”
