omidbasir- Goals from Assan Ouédraogo and Xaver Schlager led RB Leipzig to a 2-0 victory over Werder Bremen, allowing the Red Bulls to reclaim second place in the Bundesliga.

The match began with a competitive first 20 minutes where both teams displayed attacking intent. Antonio Nusa struck a powerful shot that was comfortably saved by Bremen’s goalkeeper, Mio Backhaus, while David Raum saw his free-kick narrowly miss the target. Senne Lynen also came close with a volley that went just wide, following a well-executed setup by Romano Schmid.

As the match progressed, Leipzig began asserting their dominance, significantly reducing the visitors’ possession. The first real opportunity of the game appeared in the 25th minute, when Ridle Baku found himself in a surprising amount of space but failed to convert, dragging his shot wide.

Five minutes later, Ouédraogo unleashed a shot from 25 yards, compelling Backhaus to make a notable save. The newly capped German international followed up with another strike, leading to a series of corner kicks for Leipzig. Christoph Baumgartner’s effort was ultimately saved directly by Backhaus, who continued to perform admirably.

Just before halftime, Backhaus made another crucial save, deflecting Baumgartner’s strike that seemed destined for the far post.

The visitors emerged from the break with renewed energy, and within minutes, Schmid’s shot was saved by Péter Gulácsi. Following a corner, Keke Topp’s header hit the side netting, and Cameron Puertas’ attempt again tested Gulácsi.

Midway through the second half, Leipzig regained their composure but were nearly caught off guard by a quick counter-attack that saw Jens Stage break through on goal; however, a timely tackle from Yan Diomande thwarted the opportunity.

Baumgartner was denied by Marco Grüll on the goal line, maintaining a goalless scoreline—until Ouédraogo struck brilliantly with his left foot from 20 yards, sending the ball into the top-left corner, leaving Backhaus with no chance.

Leipzig doubled their lead in the final ten minutes when Baumgartner won a header from a corner, allowing substitute Schlager to turn and slot the ball past Backhaus into the bottom corner.

Despite Leipzig’s success, Werder Bremen continued to search for a goal to spark a comeback, but the final score of 2-0 belied the competitive nature of the match, where Bremen had several promising chances that could have altered the outcome.
