RCD Mallorca Aims to Strengthen Wing Position in January Transfer MarketRCD Mallorca Aims to Strengthen Wing Position in January Transfer Market

RCD Mallorca has a singular focus in this winter transfer market: to strengthen their wing positions. The club is not considering reinforcements in other areas unless exceptional market opportunities arise. The discussion of potential signings has already begun, with notable names emerging.

The first name to mention is Justin Kalumba, a winger from Angers, who is already secured by the Bermellones for the upcoming summer market. However, the management at Son Moix is exploring the possibility of bringing him to the island this winter. Kalumba is a left-footed winger capable of playing on either flank, although the intention is for him to play on his stronger side, akin to a left-footed Jan Virgili. At just 21 years old, he would bring speed and verticality to the team.

According to MARCA, the arrival of Kalumba would not preclude the acquisition of another winger, or even two, in this same window. This is because Kalumba’s signing is intended as a long-term investment (though immediate contributions are not ruled out), while other candidates being considered are expected to provide immediate impact, thus being assessed separately.

Another player being closely monitored by the club’s sporting direction is Yáser Asprilla. The Colombian is an appealing option, but Girona is unlikely to release him easily. This is primarily due to the fact that he is the most expensive player in their history, valued at 18 million euros, and acquiring him would mean strengthening a direct rival.

Lastly, Javi Llabrés enters the conversation for the wing position. The Binissalem native’s contract expires in June, and while his renewal was previously considered, the club’s current stance is to facilitate his departure as early as January. However, this operation hinges on mutual agreement among all parties involved, making it a complex situation.

In summary, with Kalumba’s potential signing secured for the summer—possibly even winter—RCD Mallorca is concentrating all efforts on enhancing their wing positions.
