According to reports from Bild, Real Madrid has emerged as a potential suitor for Borussia Dortmund’s centre-back, Nico Schlotterbeck.

The 26-year-old’s contract situation remains unresolved, leading to interest from some of Europe’s premier clubs, including Bayern Munich and Barcelona.

Real Madrid’s interest is particularly notable as the contract of Antonio Rüdiger is set to expire in the summer, necessitating a replacement in the defensive lineup.

However, previous reports indicate that Borussia Dortmund is willing to retain Schlotterbeck until his contract expires in 2027, even if it means losing him on a free transfer. Should the club be compelled to sell, they are expected to demand a fee of at least €70 million for the defender.

There have been suggestions from Spanish media that Madrid might propose a swap deal for Schlotterbeck, potentially offering €30-35 million along with defender Diego Aguado and striker Gonzalo Garcia. Nonetheless, such an offer is considered insufficient by Dortmund’s sporting director, Sebastian Kehl, given Schlotterbeck’s status as one of their key players.
