Real Madrid Fans Weigh In on Xabi Alonso s Dismissal Survey ResultsReal Madrid Fans Weigh In on Xabi Alonso s Dismissal Survey Results

The Real Madrid fanbase has made its voice heard regarding the club’s current crisis, the dismissal of Xabi Alonso, and the individuals they hold responsible for the team’s dismal performance.

Several conclusions can be drawn from the extensive survey conducted by MARCA.com, which garnered over 537,000 votes. The results indicate that Real Madrid supporters primarily blame President Florentino Pérez and the players, while largely exonerating Xabi Alonso from the team’s troubles.

Fans are particularly critical of Álvaro Arbeloa, with a significant majority believing he lacks the necessary experience and capability to lead the first team.

The initial question of the macro-survey asked, “What do you think about the separation of paths between Real Madrid and Xabi Alonso?” The response was clear: 79% viewed the decision as very poor, while only 21% considered it very good. This suggests that the fanbase wanted Alonso to remain at the helm.

Additionally, the fans expressed their discontent with the timing of the board’s decision to part ways with Alonso. A striking 80%, or over 72,000 votes, deemed it a bad moment for a coaching change, compared to just 20% (about 18,000 votes) who felt it was the right time for a transition.

The macro-survey clearly shows that the fans stood firmly behind Xabi Alonso. In fact, 78% of respondents rated his performance positively, with only 22% expressing disapproval. Specifically, 47% would grant him a passing grade, 25% would give a notable, and 6% would assign him an outstanding score.

One of the most telling questions concerned accountability for the current troubles at Real Madrid. A considerable 48% of respondents blamed the president, while 46% held the players responsible, and only 6% pointed to Alonso himself.

As Arbeloa prepares to take over without having donned the first team’s tracksuit yet, he faces the challenge of winning over the skeptical fanbase. The results of the question “Is Arbeloa the right solution?” reflect this skepticism, with 76% (over 116,000 votes) feeling he lacks the necessary experience or skill, as opposed to only 24% (around 36,000 votes) who expressed confidence in him.

The fanbase’s dissatisfaction with Florentino Pérez and his handling of the ‘Xabi Alonso crisis’ is further illustrated by the survey results. An overwhelming 90% believe that Pérez has mismanaged the situation, attributing it to poor planning and a lack of support for his coach. Only 10% think he has acted appropriately, asserting that a good president must make difficult decisions.
