Real Oviedo Advocates for Match Loss Declaration Against Rayo VallecanoReal Oviedo Advocates for Match Loss Declaration Against Rayo Vallecano

omidbasir- On Thursday, Real Oviedo reiterated its intention to advocate before the relevant authorities for the declaration of match loss for Rayo Vallecano after the recent suspension of their scheduled match.

The match between Rayo Vallecano and Oviedo, part of the twenty-third round of LaLiga EA Sports, was originally set to take place on February 7 at 14:00. However, it was postponed due to the poor condition of the pitch at the Estadio de Vallecas, a decision made to protect the physical integrity of all participants, as stated by the league. The new date for the match was subsequently scheduled for March 4.

Following this decision, the Single Judge of Competition of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) rejected the rescheduled date for Rayo Vallecano against Oviedo, established by LaLiga. The league expressed its disagreement, reaffirming that it holds exclusive authority to determine and modify the dates and times of matches.

The club emphasizes that the Judge of Competition dismissed the claim of force majeure, stating that it could not sufficiently prove its occurrence as required by regulations, a viewpoint supported by the legal services of Real Oviedo.

In this context, Real Oviedo also highlights the Judge’s mention of the alternative venue that every professional football club is required to have for unforeseen circumstances, noting that its use was not even considered in this case.

“The integrity of the competition, respect for the legal sports framework, and equality among clubs are non-negotiable principles for this entity,” concludes Real Oviedo, which also noted that LaLiga has committed to reimbursing all expenses claimed by the fans who traveled to Vallecas.
