Real Sociedad Prepares for Villarreal Match Amid Injury ConcernsReal Sociedad Prepares for Villarreal Match Amid Injury Concerns

Real Sociedad has begun preparations for the upcoming match against Villarreal, scheduled for this Sunday at Anoeta, starting at 14:00. The team continues to deal with the same injury concerns that affected them during last Saturday’s match against Osasuna at El Sadar. Igor Zubeldia remains unable to train under the guidance of Sergio Francisco, keeping him alongside injured players Mikel Goti, Yangel Herrera, Jon Karrikaburu, Orri Óskarsson, and Iñaki Rupérez.

Zubeldia entered the international break as the only outfield player for Real Sociedad to have played all 1,080 minutes of La Liga up to that point. However, his involvement in the Euskadi match against Palestine, where he played for an hour, resulted in discomfort, preventing him from participating in training upon returning to Zubieta.

As is often the case, information regarding the players’ recovery is limited. Mikel Goti has similarly been absent from training since the commencement of the week without competition. Both Zubeldia and Goti were not present during today’s training session led by Sergio, leading to uncertainty about their potential return to the field before the Villarreal match.

Meanwhile, Jon Karrikaburu, Yangel Herrera, Orri Óskarsson, and Iñaki Rupérez are expected to remain sidelined, having been out for at least a month, with the first three suffering from muscle injuries and Rupérez dealing with a knee issue.
