Revival of Kobbie Mainoo Under Carrick’s Management

“I’ve known Kobbie for a long time, starting when he was around 13 or 14, while I was beginning my coaching journey,” Carrick shared with BBC Sport. “Having that history with him and witnessing his performances in high-pressure situations has been incredible. We must not forget how young he is; I have always been a fan of his play and what he can achieve. Therefore, it wasn’t a difficult decision to include him in the lineup. He faces the challenge of finding his rhythm after being inactive, and while there is room for improvement, we are currently allowing him to find his flow.”

Carrick has been mindful not to overload Mainoo with feedback, providing only minimal guidance on positional play and other nuances. “He is a fantastic footballer with immense talent,” Carrick added.

As Manchester United aims to sustain their positive momentum, Mainoo is expected to remain an essential part of the team. His recent performances have effectively quelled any speculation regarding a potential summer exit, positioning him as a crucial component of the club’s medium-term plans, irrespective of who eventually secures the permanent managerial position.
