Declan Rice made a significant impact upon his return to the starting lineup against Bournemouth, scoring two goals to lead Arsenal to a 3-2 victory, reinstating them at the top of the Premier League table. The Gunners initially fell behind due to a mistake by Gabriel, which was exploited by Evanilson. However, Gabriel redeemed himself by scoring the equalizer before Rice netted the second and third goals of the match.

With this win, Arsenal now holds a six-point advantage over second-placed Aston Villa. Reflecting on his absence in the previous game against Villa, Rice expressed his frustration and eagerness to make amends. He stated, “It’s a massive win. It’s a really tough place to come; we lost here last season. It was difficult the season before, so we knew what we were in for today. The manager made us well aware of that after not the best start. Then to show our character again and come back was massive, and to win 3-2 in the end was a massive result.”

Rice further emphasized, “To miss that game against Villa was annoying; to come back today and help the team and score two, I think the fans will be really happy. I’m happy myself that I could help out because this team’s special, and if we’re all chipping in together, I’m sure good things will happen.”

He also paid tribute to Martin Odegaard for his assist, noting, “He’s so intelligent. The way he feeds passes is exceptional. The second goal, the way he played it through to Bukayo—there aren’t many players in the world who can deliver those passes. He was going to shoot but set me up instead, and I was thrilled because the more he assists and scores, the more it will benefit our team.”

Additionally, Rice acknowledged striker Viktor Gyokeres, who has faced challenges since his transfer from Sporting CP. Although Gyokeres hasn’t scored in his last three Premier League matches, Rice praised his ability to draw defenders and create opportunities. He remarked, “It’s tough for him because he’s often marked by two defenders. He has to leverage his strength to support the team. His run from Gabi’s flick and the way he held and set up the play for Martin were pivotal for our goal. I see how hard he strikes the ball, and I believe when he gets the space, he will score. Defenders in the Premier League are keen to contain him because he’s one of the best strikers in the world. Trust me, he’s doing an incredible job for us, and we wouldn’t be where we are without him.”

As Arsenal approaches a crucial January in the title race and other competitions, they will face Liverpool next, in addition to league fixtures against Nottingham Forest and Manchester United. The team has also drawn Portsmouth away for the third round of the FA Cup, Chelsea in the first leg of the League Cup semi-final, and Inter in the Champions League.
