Rob Edwards, the manager of Middlesbrough, has been temporarily removed from his responsibilities for the game against Birmingham on Saturday, amid interest from Wolverhampton Wanderers in appointing him as their new manager.

Wolves made an approach to speak with Edwards, which was rejected by Middlesbrough on Thursday. Subsequently, Edwards engaged in discussions with the club’s management on Friday.

Notably, Edwards did not conduct his pre-match press conference and was absent from the final training session prior to the match against Birmingham.

It has now been confirmed that he will not lead the team in the Championship home game against the Blues this afternoon.
