Roberto De Zerbi Part Ways with Olympique Marseille After Heavy LossRoberto De Zerbi Part Ways with Olympique Marseille After Heavy Loss

omidbasir- Roberto De Zerbi has been relieved of his duties as head coach of Olympique Marseille following a significant 5-0 defeat against Paris Saint-Germain. The 46-year-old Italian now faces the prospect of searching for a new challenge, which could potentially be found at the top of the Eredivisie.

De Zerbi had been under considerable scrutiny at Olympique Marseille due to the team’s underwhelming performance in the league. Currently, they occupy the fourth position in Ligue 1, trailing leaders Paris Saint-Germain by twelve points. Additionally, the club faced a disappointing exit from the Champions League, with a crushing 3-0 defeat on the final matchday against Club Brugge proving to be decisive. On Wednesday, the French club officially announced De Zerbi’s dismissal.

Ajax may consider reaching out to De Zerbi, who is now available as a free agent. Notably, he played a significant role in the development of Francesco Farioli, having brought him to Benevento when he was the head coach there. Farioli later served as De Zerbi’s goalkeeping coach, continuing this partnership at Sassuolo shortly thereafter.
