Robertson Weighs Options Amid Liverpool ChangesRobertson Weighs Options Amid Liverpool Changes

At 31 years old, Andrew Robertson is contemplating his future options after experiencing a reduction in his role at Liverpool. The club invested significantly in Milos Kerkez during the summer of 2025.

Although Kerkez has yet to deliver his best performance for Liverpool—having previously excelled in the English Premier League with Bournemouth—he is seen as a long-term acquisition for head coach Arne Slot. Robertson, eager for regular playing time at this stage of his career, is aware of the competition.

Since joining Liverpool in 2017, Robertson has made 364 appearances and has become a modern legend under Jurgen Klopp. Should a transfer be approved, he would depart with the best wishes of the club and its supporters.

Captain Virgil van Dijk hopes Robertson will remain at the club, stating, “Of course I speak to him. I speak to him every day; he’s my vice-captain. Robbo is a very important member of our team, and I want him to stay, but whatever happens, let’s see.”

Van Dijk also expressed uncertainty about Robertson’s presence for the upcoming match against Qarabag, suggesting that discussions about his future could be premature until a potential move occurs.

Slot affirmed that Robertson still has a role in his plans if interest from clubs in North London is dismissed. After a 3-2 defeat to Bournemouth, in which Kerkez was substituted at halftime, he remarked on the necessity of having all players available, emphasizing that Robertson’s experience is invaluable during a congested fixture list.

Liverpool’s unbeaten streak of 13 matches across all competitions ended against Bournemouth, with a last-minute goal sealing their fate despite a commendable comeback.

Van Dijk commented on the team’s fatigue, noting that the demanding schedule has taken its toll. He stated, “Tiredness? What do you think? Last season, we did not have many injuries. If you don’t make the right decisions in possession, you can get counter-attacked. I don’t personally worry about the top-four race, but we need to focus on our consistency.”

As Liverpool aims for a top-four finish in the Premier League and seeks to qualify for the Champions League knockout stage, they face imminent challenges, including upcoming matches against Newcastle and Manchester City.
