Ronaldo s Remarkable Form and Future PlansRonaldo s Remarkable Form and Future Plans

omidbasir- Despite currently playing in the less competitive Saudi Pro League, Cristiano Ronaldo, the former superstar of Manchester United and Real Madrid, is showcasing remarkable performance with 17 goals across 18 league games this season for Al-Nassr. His career tally has now surpassed an astonishing 960 goals for both club and country. Ronaldo takes great pride in maintaining his physical fitness, which has allowed him to perform at a high level well into his 40s. According to Portugal’s national team coach, Roberto Martinez, this exceptional fitness suggests Ronaldo could continue playing for as long as he desires.

When asked about Ronaldo’s potential retirement, Martinez shared with the BBC, “We have all the statistics. If one were to analyze a player declining physically, that is not the case with him. His physical statistics are those of a player who could continue indefinitely. Ultimately, it will be up to him to decide when the time is right. He is very self-critical; when he feels he can no longer contribute to the team, he will make that decision.”

Martinez also described his experience managing the renowned player as quite straightforward due to Ronaldo’s high standards, expectations, and dedication. He remarked, “He is an exemplary figure for representing Portugal and the national team. After 21 years, he has adjusted remarkably well.”

Despite facing criticism for his decision to continue selecting Ronaldo for the team, Martinez defended his choice by stating, “He remains a goal-scorer and an essential player for us. It is his current contributions that matter, not just his past. A player who has scored 25 goals in the last 30 international matches is invaluable.”

Nonetheless, the prospect of Ronaldo’s retirement seems to be on the horizon. Although he aims to achieve the milestone of 1,000 career goals, the all-time leading scorer for Portugal has indicated that he will retire “soon.” In November 2025, he noted, “To be honest, when I say soon, I mean probably one or two more years.”

In December, he further expressed his enthusiasm for the game, stating, “My passion remains strong, and I want to continue playing, whether in the Middle East or Europe. I enjoy football immensely and aim to win trophies and reach that milestone of 1,000 goals, which I will achieve if I avoid injuries.”
