Liam Rosenior has faced significant scrutiny since taking over as head coach of Chelsea, following his move from Strasbourg to replace Enzo Maresca. Fans recently expressed frustration over claims that Rosenior refrains from wearing gloves during training to ensure players can hear his claps when they succeed, as well as his intentions to enhance team morale through Lego-building contests.

In his inaugural interview after being appointed at Stamford Bridge, Rosenior shared his commitment to fostering a positive team environment. He stated, “I think I’m demanding, honest, and caring. I care about my team, my players, and my staff. I’m meticulous and organized, with a clear vision for how I want the game to be played. My role is to cultivate an atmosphere where everyone enjoys their work, as enjoyment leads to improved performance, which ultimately results in winning matches. If we succeed, it will not be solely about me; my responsibility is to ensure we are organized, dedicated, and take pride in wearing the club’s colors. When we achieve that, victory usually follows.”

After Chelsea’s recent victory, Rosenior addressed the training session narratives, acknowledging the source of speculation regarding his methods. “Yes, we have Lego activities planned, and I understand where that originated. I’ve been doing plenty of clapping too. I received an insightful article that I appreciated. As a coach, my goal is to support the players, and we will continue to work diligently.”

Rosenior celebrated his first Premier League win on Saturday, where Chelsea triumphed over Brentford thanks to goals from Joao Pedro and Cole Palmer. He noted that Pedro’s goal was particularly significant, marking the end of a scoring drought for him.

He remarked, “His performance was exceptional. We adjusted our tactics to counter Brentford’s press effectively. He won every duel and delivered an outstanding performance. A highlight for me was during a transition when he sprinted back 70 yards to make a crucial tackle. That’s the effort I hope to see in my team. I’ve conveyed to all players that hard work for the collective leads to personal opportunities. He seized his opportunity brilliantly with a fantastic strike. I am thrilled to work with him, Liam, and Marc [Guiu] as my strikers.”

Rosenior also commended Palmer, noting, “If you observe the last 15 minutes of the match, you’ll see the energy he invests in pressing and running for the team; he was outstanding. It’s unrealistic for any player to be flawless with the ball every game, but finding a way to secure a win is essential.”

Looking ahead, Rosenior is preparing for his first Champions League match in charge of Chelsea, which will see the team face Pafos at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, currently positioned 13th in the league standings. Chelsea’s next Champions League match is scheduled for a week later against Serie A champions Napoli, led by former Chelsea manager Antonio Conte.
