Ryan Reynolds, known for his role in Deadpool, frequently visits North Wales, often accompanied by co-owner Rob Mac. His latest visit included his mother, Tammy, as they experienced an emotional rollercoaster during Wrexham’s FA Cup match against Forest, which concluded in a dramatic penalty shootout victory for the team.

During the match, Reynolds participated in several costume changes—an appropriate choice for an A-list actor—though he seemed somewhat uneasy in the VIP box. Wrexham initially led the game 2-0 and 3-1 against their top-tier rivals but ultimately had to navigate beyond 120 minutes before triumphing in the penalties, thanks in part to a decisive save by Arthur Okonkwo from Omari Hutchinson.

Reynolds joined in the exuberant celebrations that followed, providing captivating content for the upcoming fifth season of the documentary series “Welcome to Wrexham.” Additionally, he continues to expand a rather unique collection of turf from the pitch at home, alongside his wife, Blake Lively, and their children.

Since orchestrating a remarkable takeover in 2021 that propelled Wrexham from the National League to the Championship, Reynolds has developed a habit of stashing grass in his pocket during visits to the club.

Rob Mac shares a similar fondness for keepsakes, recounting on The Athletic how his wife, Kaitlin Olson, crafted a display of the grass he collected from various matches—each piece neatly preserved behind air-sealed glass with accompanying plaques detailing the occasions.

In a recent interview, Reynolds described his collection as a sort of shrine, emphasizing the importance of the Racecourse Ground to him and his family. He mentioned that his daughters often remind him to secure a piece of the pitch, underscoring the special place Wrexham holds in his heart.

Although Mac was not present during Reynolds’ latest turf collection, he expressed his admiration for the team’s performance via social media, praising their effort in securing a victory against top-flight opponents for the first time since 1999.

Head Coach Phil Parkinson reflected on the match, stating, “It was another crazy game. I was pleased with how we played against a really good side. This is a significant night for the club, and I am proud of this group of players for making their mark in FA Cup history.”

Reynolds and Mac plan to continue their commitment this season as Wrexham aims for the ultimate goal of reaching the Premier League. They are welcoming further investment into the Racecourse while remaining deeply invested—both emotionally and financially—in a project that has unexpectedly become a central part of their lives.
