Salah s Future at Liverpool in Question Amid SpeculationSalah s Future at Liverpool in Question Amid Speculation

Speculation about Mohamed Salah’s future at Liverpool continues to intensify, especially following a recent outburst criticizing the club after being benched for a Champions League match against Inter Milan.

Salah was subsequently sidelined but returned to the starting lineup for a Premier League fixture against Brighton before departing for the Africa Cup of Nations. Liverpool’s manager, Arne Slot, has expressed his desire to retain the influential 33-year-old player.

After a dramatic draw with Leeds that left him on the substitutes’ bench, Salah voiced his concerns to reporters, stating, “I’m sitting on the bench and I don’t know why. It seems like the club has thrown me under the bus. I feel that someone wanted me to take all the blame for our current situation.”

He further remarked, “I received numerous promises during the summer, yet I find myself on the bench for three games. I cannot claim that those promises have been upheld. I had previously maintained a good relationship with the manager, but it feels as though that bond has suddenly eroded. I have the impression that someone at the club no longer wants me here.”

Salah added, “This situation is unacceptable for me. I am perplexed by what is happening. If this were any other club, the management would protect its players. Instead, it feels as if I am being scapegoated as the problem within the team. I believe I have contributed significantly to this club and deserve respect. I should not have to fight daily for my position, as I have earned it. I am not claiming to be superior to anyone, but my contributions warrant recognition.”

When questioned about his new contract, which secures his position at Liverpool until the summer of 2027, Salah responded, “It pains me to even contemplate that question. I will never regret signing with this club. I envisioned finishing my career here, but the current circumstances diverge from that plan, though I do not regret my decision to join Liverpool.”

Although Liverpool has not officially indicated that Salah is available for transfer, multiple clubs outside the Premier League are closely monitoring the situation. Notably, Roma is reportedly among those interested.

According to *La Repubblica*, Salah’s relationship with Liverpool has significantly deteriorated in recent weeks, particularly with management, prompting discussions about a potential change in scenery.

Clubs in the Saudi Pro League are expected to lead any pursuit for Salah’s signature, given their willingness to invest in global superstars. The financial terms offered in the Middle East would be challenging for Roma to match.

Salah’s reported salary of €24 million (£21m/$28m) would require Roma to find approximately €12 million (£10m/$14m) to facilitate a six-month loan deal, making negotiations complex even if Salah were to accept reduced terms.

Currently, Salah’s potential move remains a dream scenario rather than a concrete negotiation, with Roma exploring alternative attacking options. However, significant updates on Salah’s future are anticipated as he prepares to return to Liverpool from the Africa Cup of Nations.
