Salomón Rondón has made his return to Pachuca in Mexico after departing from Oviedo several months after joining the club from the Liga MX. Notably, he still holds the record as the top scorer for Oviedo, having netted two goals despite the team having scored only seven in total in the league.

This decision was reached in consultation with Jesús Martínez, the president of Grupo Pachuca, and underscores the loyalty Rondón has shown to the organization that supported him following his exit from River Plate. To facilitate this move, Rondón, who is classified as a non-EU player, has agreed to adjust his contractual terms.

Rondón’s return to Pachuca comes after the cancellation of his loan at Oviedo. He has a contract with Pachuca that extends until December 2026, where he previously experienced considerable success, being named MVP of the CONCACAF Champions League, as well as the league’s top scorer and winning the Golden Ball for the best forward in Liga MX 2024. He also led Pachuca to the finals of the Club World Cup, marking the team’s first participation in this prestigious tournament, and served as team captain.

Currently, Rondón is training with his returning team and has been a regular starter since his arrival. His departure from Oviedo was not motivated by financial issues, as he had already negotiated a reduced salary. Following a brief farewell to his teammates, his return to Pachuca is expected to be formalized soon, ahead of the Liga MX season commencing on January 10.
