Salomón Rondón is making his return to Pachuca in Mexico, parting ways with Oviedo several months after moving from Liga MX. Despite Oviedo’s challenges, Rondón stood out as the team’s leading scorer, netting two goals in a squad that has managed just seven in the league.

His decision to return was made in agreement with Jesús Martínez, the president of Grupo Pachuca, and underscores the loyalty Rondón has shown to the organization that believed in him following his departure from River Plate. To facilitate his return, Rondón has relinquished his non-EU player status.

Rondón’s move back to Pachuca comes as he ends his loan spell at Oviedo. He has signed a contract that extends through December 2026. At Pachuca, he experienced significant success, earning accolades such as MVP of the ConcaChampions, leading scorer in the tournament, and recognition as the best forward in Liga MX 2024, among other honors. He was also a key player in the club’s history-making participation in the FIFA Club World Cup and served as the team’s captain.

Currently training with his teammates, Rondón has been a regular starter since joining the team, and his departure from Oviedo is not related to financial constraints, as he had previously agreed to a reduced salary. As the Liga MX season begins on January 10, his return is anticipated to be officially announced following a brief farewell to his colleagues.
