omidbasir- Jadon Sancho signed with Aston Villa during the summer transfer window, seeking an opportunity to rejuvenate his career.

Despite this fresh start, the 25-year-old winger has struggled to make a significant impact at Villa Park. He has only made six Premier League starts and has yet to score in the English top flight this season, having netted just once in the Europa League, totaling only one goal in 25 appearances across all competitions. While linked with a move back to Borussia Dortmund and interest from Turkish clubs during the January transfer window, Sancho will remain with Unai Emery’s side for the remainder of the season.

Sancho is currently in the final year of his contract with Manchester United, who do hold an option to extend it by an additional year. However, according to reports from The Sun, the club has opted against retaining him for another season and is considering selling him. Manchester United is keen to eliminate his £200,000-a-week wages from their payroll this summer and may allow him to leave on a free transfer. Should he depart as anticipated at season’s end, Sancho will be remembered as one of Manchester United’s significant transfer failures, having cost £73 million in 2021 and contributing just 12 goals in 83 appearances.

Unai Emery has acknowledged Sancho’s recent improvement in form and indicated that the club could consider a permanent signing. When asked about potentially securing Sancho’s services, he remarked, “Not yet, but he is a fantastic player. Hopefully, he can help us by enhancing his qualities within our structure. He will need another contract, and perhaps it could be here. If he performs at his best, we will want him, but other teams may also show interest. The first half of the season was insufficient; he was working hard but not delivering the performances we needed. Now, however, he is improving and rising to the challenge for both himself and the team.”

Sancho has the remainder of the season to demonstrate his value and convince Aston Villa to keep him. Currently, Emery’s side is positioned third in the Premier League and is set to face Leeds United at Villa Park this Saturday.
