The Saudi Arabian Football Federation’s Disciplinary and Ethics Committee has handed out a series of sanctions following incidents in Matchday 7 of the Roshn Saudi League, affecting several clubs and high-profile players.

In a statement published on Wednesday, the committee confirmed a 60,000 SAR fine against Al-Ahli, after supporters were found to have thrown multiple water bottles onto the pitch during the club’s match against Al-Riyadh. The fixture ended in dramatic fashion, with both sides scoring from the penalty spot deep into stoppage time, heightening tensions in the stands.

Additional fines of 10,000 SAR were imposed on three players for violent conduct resulting in straight red cards:

Fabinho (Al-Ittihad) – sent off against Al-Khaleej

Kalidou Koulibaly (Al-Hilal) – dismissed late in the Riyadh derby against Al-Shabab

Moussa Dembélé (Al-Ettifaq) – shown red during the match versus Al-Hazem

Both Al-Ittihad and Al-Hilal were forced to finish their respective matches with ten men, decisions that were upheld by the Video Assistant Referee.

Al-Ittihad Find Relief in Asian Competition

Away from disciplinary matters, Al-Ittihad recorded a convincing 3–0 victory over Sharjah in the AFC Champions League Elite stage, marking their second consecutive win in the competition and lifting their tally to six points.

Forward Steven Bergwijn praised the team’s intent and fast start:

“We started with the right tempo and scoring early gave us confidence. The focus now is to keep building momentum.”

French winger Moussa Diaby acknowledged that improvement is still needed despite the result:

“The performance can be better, but the priority was to win. The upcoming derby against Al-Ahli will demand our highest level.”

Al-Hilal Monitor Defensive Absences Ahead of Najma Clash

At Al-Hilal, attention has turned to the fitness of defender Hassan Tambakti, who missed full training due to ongoing recovery work. Local reports suggest he may rejoin group sessions on Thursday, though his availability for Friday’s league game against Al-Najma remains uncertain.

Meanwhile, Ali Al-Bulayhi has returned to team training after a bout of influenza, while defender Ali Al-Lajami has been ruled out for three to four weeks following a hamstring injury sustained during the win over Al-Gharafa. Striker Darwin Núñez was also absent from Wednesday’s training programme.
