Sky Germany reports that Schalke is in negotiations to bring Edin Dzeko back to Germany, but they are facing competition from international clubs.

The team, known as Die Königsblau, is in discussions with the Bosnian striker regarding a potential move during the upcoming winter transfer window. Dzeko, now 39 years old, has six months remaining on his contract with Fiorentina, a club he joined last summer.

However, Schalke must contend with interest from Paris FC, who are also keen on acquiring the experienced striker. Paris FC can not only provide first division football but also has the financial capability to meet Dzeko’s salary demands.

Dzeko’s career began in Germany, where he made a significant impact. After transferring to Wolfsburg for €4 million in 2007, he played a pivotal role in their Bundesliga-winning season, forming a successful partnership with Grafite. He subsequently moved to Manchester City for €37 million after three and a half years at Wolfsburg, where he played 142 matches, scoring 85 goals and providing 35 assists.

Currently, Schalke is leading the 2.Bundesliga with a four-point advantage over Elversberg. As they aim to secure their return to the Bundesliga, the club is actively seeking to enhance their squad during the winter transfer window.

The club has also been linked with potential moves for Union Berlin’s Marin Ljubicic to strengthen their attacking options, as well as Heidenheim goalkeeper Kevin Müller.
