Schlotterbeck Enthusiastic as Bundesliga Title Race Intensifies

After Borussia Dortmund closed the gap on Bayern Munich for the second consecutive week, defender Nico Schlotterbeck confidently asserted that the Bundesliga title race is very much alive. Despite facing several challenges in their latest league victory over Heidenheim, Dortmund now find themselves just six points adrift of Bayern in the Bundesliga standings.

Following Bayern’s recent stumble, Schlotterbeck’s outlook has shifted dramatically compared to his sentiments last week, when he appeared resigned to the title race after Dortmund’s previous win. Now, the 26-year-old is embracing a more optimistic perspective.

“I once heard that if you poke Bayern, they’ll wobble,” Schlotterbeck remarked in an interview with DAZN. “They’re headed our way [Bayern is scheduled to visit Signal Iduna Park at the end of the month]. As BVB, we need to start declaring, ‘We want to be champions!’ We might have been a bit fortunate to win today, but honestly, I don’t care. We won!”
