Scottish National Team Faces Injury Setbacks Ahead of World Cup Qualifier Against GreeceScottish National Team Faces Injury Setbacks Ahead of World Cup Qualifier Against Greece

Billy Gilmour will miss Scotland’s upcoming match against Greece in World Cup qualifying due to injury. This setback comes as Scotland prepares to face Greece in Piraeus, with Gilmour having been a likely starter for the game.

Although Gilmour has not completely withdrawn from the squad, he will not participate in Saturday’s match. The national team is set to play Denmark three days later at Hampden Park, which could be pivotal in their qualifying campaign.

In addition to Gilmour, Udinese midfielder Lennon Miller and Bristol City defender Ross McCrorie have also been ruled out due to injuries. To bolster the squad, two additional midfielders have been called up: Connor Barron from Rangers and Andy Irving from West Ham United.

Gilmour was absent from his club Napoli’s recent 2-0 defeat against Bologna, a match in which fellow Scotland teammate Lewis Ferguson captained the opposing side. The Scottish FA confirmed on Monday that Gilmour will not attend the training camp in Turkey, stating, “Billy Gilmour will not travel to the training camp in Turkey due to an injury, so will play no part in the game against Greece.”

Miller was also unavailable for Udinese during their 2-0 loss to Roma, while McCrorie was substituted in the 57th minute of Bristol City’s 1-1 draw with Watford. McCrorie had recently been recalled to the Scotland squad by head coach Steve Clarke for right-back cover, as Brentford’s Aaron Hickey is only just returning from injury, and both Max Johnston and Nathan Patterson have been sidelined.
