Serge Gnabry Extends Contract with Bayern Munich Until 2028Serge Gnabry Extends Contract with Bayern Munich Until 2028

Bayern Munich has announced the extension of forward Serge Gnabry’s contract, which was originally set to expire this summer.

The 30-year-old’s new agreement will keep him at the Allianz Arena until 2028. In response to the contract renewal, Gnabry stated, “I’m excited to continue playing for Bayern for more years. The discussions were always positive. When I joined Bayern, I never imagined I would be here for a decade by the end of this contract. My aim is to maintain our momentum. We are a cohesive unit capable of achieving great things. The reasons for renewing my contract include the team, the coaching staff, the entire club, the fans, the city, and the overall environment. I truly feel at home at Bayern.”

This season has marked a resurgence in Gnabry’s career at Bayern. Initially, it appeared that he might leave upon the expiration of his previous contract. However, with Jamal Musiala sidelined during the first half of the season, Gnabry stepped up as a pivotal component of Vincent Kompany’s attack, contributing seven goals and eight assists in 26 matches.

Gnabry, a Stuttgart native, joined Bayern in 2017 from Werder Bremen for €8 million. After a successful loan at Hoffenheim, he established himself as an integral part of the Bayern squad.

His most impressive season came in 2019/20, where he played a crucial role in Bayern’s sextuple victory, notably excelling during their Champions League campaign.

As of this summer, Gnabry and Joshua Kimmich will be the only remaining members of the 1995 generation still at Bayern, following Leroy Sané’s transfer to Galatasaray last summer and Leon Goretzka’s impending departure upon the end of his contract.
