Setback for Rub n Vargas in Sevilla s Match Against Celta de VigoSetback for Rub n Vargas in Sevilla s Match Against Celta de Vigo

In the 57th minute of the match between Sevilla and Celta de Vigo, head coach Matías Almeyda opted to substitute in Rubén Vargas and Alexis Sánchez for Peque Fernández and Isaac Romero. This marked Vargas’s return to the Sevilla lineup after a month and a half away due to a hamstring injury sustained on November 24 during a match against Espanyol in Cornellà. However, his comeback was far shorter than anticipated.

Vargas was only able to participate in a couple of plays before showing clear signs of distress ten minutes after entering the match. In a situation where no contact occurred, the Sevilla winger signaled for the ball to go out of play and requested to be substituted. He left the field in tears, being replaced by Adnan Januzaj.

While awaiting the results of medical examinations, Sevilla remains hopeful that Vargas’s setback is not severe, especially as he was considered a potential candidate for sale during the upcoming winter transfer window.
