Sevilla FC Adjusts Roster Following Long-Term Injury to Marcao

omidbasir- The medical tribunal of LaLiga has granted approval for Marcao’s departure from Sevilla FC, determining that he meets the criteria for a long-term injury, as it is unlikely he will recover and return to play within four months. The central defender underwent surgery yesterday for a fracture of the scaphoid bone in his left foot, which he sustained during training a few days ago.

This afternoon, Villarreal will officially announce the loan of Alfon González until June. This transfer, which includes a non-mandatory purchase option, alongside Marcao’s departure, clears the way for Sevilla to register Neal Maupay.

With the salary contributions from both Alfon and Marcao, Sevilla has sufficient room to meet LaLiga’s salary cap regulations. The forward, arriving from Olympique de Marseille, landed this morning at San Pablo Airport in Seville to undergo a medical examination and sign his new contract once Marcao’s departure and Alfon’s exit are finalized. Maupay will play on loan at Nervión with a non-mandatory purchase option of approximately 5 million euros.
