Sevilla Prepares for Upcoming Match Against CeltaSevilla Prepares for Upcoming Match Against Celta

Sevilla is in the final stages of preparation for their upcoming match against Celta, which will conclude Matchday 19 and the first half of the league season. Following this morning’s training session at the sports city, only one final practice remains before the match, scheduled for tomorrow at 10:00 AM. After the session, Matías Almeyda will address the media.

On Saturday, both José Ángel Carmona and Rubén Vargas returned to the pitch alongside their teammates, marking their presence as significant developments since Friday’s training. Both players are crucial to Sevilla’s strategy. Carmona, a homegrown player, has accumulated the most minutes under Almeyda, totaling 1,514. Despite speculation regarding his potential transfer to generate financial returns in the winter market, he remains a key figure in the Argentine coach’s starting lineup.

Interestingly, Sevilla has managed to secure 16 out of 36 possible points (44.4%) with Rubén Vargas available, while their performance drops to just 4 out of 18 points (22.2%) in his absence, alongside a setback in the Copa del Rey. Vargas has contributed three goals and four assists to a team currently struggling to find the net, having gone three consecutive matches without scoring.

In positive news for Almeyda, he continues to cope without Suazo, Azpilicueta, and Alfon, who are still recovering from injuries. Additionally, Nigerian players Chidera Ejuke and Akor Adams will not be available as they compete in the quarter-finals of the Africa Cup of Nations against Algeria this afternoon. Lastly, Marcao will serve his second match suspension due to his expulsion in the match against Real Madrid.
