Sevilla managed to secure a point during their visit to Elche, with two goals from Akor Adams. This achievement marked the first time since Vicente Iborra’s hat-trick in December 2016 that a substitute from the Sevilla squad scored two goals in a LaLiga match. The Andalusian team also gained their first points in this league season after starting off with a loss, bringing Adams’ personal tally to five goals.

Playing again on Saturday after participating in the Africa Cup, Adams entered the match in the second half against Elche. He remarked, “I returned for the match after a long tournament; the team needed me, and I am grateful to the coach for giving me the opportunity to energize the squad and help us achieve this draw.”

In an official statement, Adams expressed the belief that Sevilla deserved more from the match, stating, “I think we missed small details. We played well and should have won. Elche is a good team, but we had numerous opportunities and could have clinched the victory. The most important aspect is the team; I’ve followed all the matches during my absence, and the results weren’t what we desired. We’ve secured a draw, I scored, and I’m very pleased for the team as we look ahead.”

Lucien Agoumé also addressed the media after the match against Elche, saying, “There are games like this. We’ve come from four matches, excluding the one against Madrid, where we didn’t create many chances. Today, we had a lot more, but we need to be more lethal. We’ve noticed that opponents don’t need many opportunities to score against us.” He added, “We must be more decisive in both areas; defensively, we need to play with greater aggression and awareness, and offensively, we must approach our attacks with more conviction to score and win games. That is the only way to succeed: by pressing when they have the ball and being more lethal when we have it.”
