FSV Mainz 05 has confirmed the transfer of striker Silas from Stuttgart. As reported by Get German Football News, Mainz will pay a six-figure transfer fee for the DR Congo international. This fee may rise above €1 million if Silas’ new club succeeds in avoiding relegation. Over his six-year tenure at Stuttgart, Silas netted a total of 35 goals in 132 appearances across all competitions.

Silas is Mainz’s second acquisition during the January transfer window. The club is also hopeful that former Augsburg striker Phillip Tietz, who has struggled for form, can regain his prowess in the Bundesliga and assist in their fight against relegation. Collectively, Mainz’s new attacking signings have a career tally of 37 goals in the Bundesliga.

“Silas is instantly associated with his speed, tenacity in one-on-one situations, and goal-scoring prowess,” stated Mainz’s sporting director, Nico Bungert, in an official club announcement. “He will undoubtedly strengthen our team and add new dimensions to our offensive strategy.”
