Six cities across the United States have been designated as venues for soccer matches during the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics.

The group stage games will take place in New York City; Columbus, Ohio; Nashville, Tennessee; St. Louis, Missouri; as well as San Diego and San Jose in California, as announced by the organizers of the upcoming Summer Games on Tuesday.

Reynold Hoover, the chief executive of LA 2028, informed members of the International Olympic Committee that the events would be held in “premier existing Major League Soccer stadiums.”

Additionally, the Rose Bowl in Pasadena has been confirmed to host knockout and medal rounds.

For the first time in Olympic history, the women’s soccer tournament will feature more teams than the men’s, with 16 teams competing in the women’s event compared to 12 for the men. This marks a significant shift from the gender distribution seen at the Paris Olympics, where there were 16 men’s teams and only 12 women’s teams.
