Snoop Dogg Aims to Elevate Swansea City to Global Recognition

Rapper Snoop Dogg, with over 100 million social media followers, has expressed his commitment to transforming Swansea City into a global name. The 54-year-old artist became a co-owner and investor in the Championship club last July after acquiring a minority stake.

Snoop Dogg has long harbored ambitions of investing in a soccer team and aims to support Swansea’s efforts to generate income necessary for a return to the Premier League. He articulated his vision during an interview with Wales Online, stating, “I want to be real hands-on; I want to take the club in a direction it hasn’t been before.”

He acknowledged the financial realities of the sport, saying, “We want to take Swansea to the Premier League, and to do that, we are going to need money—that’s the reality of the game these days. I want to introduce sponsorship deals and publicity that will make them a global name.”

Despite having sold over 30 million albums worldwide, Snoop Dogg has yet to attend a Swansea game; however, his son, Cordell Broadus, was present in the directors’ box during the team’s draw with Watford last August. Additionally, American billionaire businesswoman Martha Stewart joined Snoop Dogg and Real Madrid legend Luka Modric as a co-owner in December, attending a match against Wrexham shortly before Christmas.

Swansea City has indicated that Snoop Dogg is likely to attend a game sometime this season, although no specific date has been confirmed for his appearance at the Swansea.com Stadium. He expressed enthusiasm for meeting the fans, stating, “These fans are passionate; they are real, and I want to hear what they have to say when I am in Swansea.”

Snoop Dogg’s investment reflects a broader strategy by Swansea’s American ownership group, led by Brett Cravatt and Jason Cohen, to enhance the club’s profile through the involvement of high-profile figures in the boardroom. This initiative aims to boost the club’s income and overall visibility in the competitive landscape of football.
