omidbasir- Real Betis has announced that Sofyan Amrabat underwent surgery today in Amsterdam, performed by Dr. Gino Kerkhoffs. He was accompanied by members of the club’s medical staff and received a joint cleaning procedure on his right ankle. The Moroccan player will begin his post-surgical recovery in Amsterdam before continuing rehabilitation in Seville.

The midfielder’s surgery was postponed during the Africa Cup of Nations and after the tournament concluded, originally scheduled for last Friday. Today marks two months since the unfortunate incident during a UEFA Europa League match against Utrecht, where Isco suffered a significant injury due to an accidental kick from Amrabat. This incident has left the team without two of its top players and there is currently no timeline for their return.

While there was speculation regarding Amrabat’s potential return for the derby at Sánchez-Pizjuán, he ultimately appeared for his national team in the Africa Cup, participating in the first two matches and part of the quarter-finals. Unfortunately, the injury prevented him from continuing, although he remained with his teammates until the end of the tournament.
