The 33-year-old forward, who joined Los Angeles FC (LAFC) in August 2025 after a successful decade with Tottenham Hotspur, has expressed his frustration regarding persistent transfer speculations. He affirmed that his sole focus is on his current club and that he has not considered any temporary moves during the winter break.

“I have never engaged in discussions with any club about a winter transfer. Such rumors are simply untrue,” Son stated in an interview with TV Chosun. “For me, demonstrating respect for my club and giving my all where I play is of utmost importance. That will not change.”

Son firmly articulated, “I will not leave LAFC this winter, nor at any time while I am here. I hold this club in high regard. As long as I wear this badge, there will be no loan or transfer. Never.”

He highlighted the importance of creating a positive impression on his new fans in LAFC and Major League Soccer (MLS).

“I understand that fans can feel confused when rumors circulate. However, these stories are false. Frankly, discussing them may be disrespectful to my team. I love this club, and I have immense respect for everyone here,” he explained.

Son also clarified that he does not intend to pursue a winter transfer, noting that his offseason will focus on rest and preparing for the 2026 World Cup. With the MLS break occurring from December through late February, he emphasized the opportunity to recover while following a structured training regimen.

“I plan to rest adequately, recharge, and prepare myself in the best possible condition for the World Cup,” Son remarked. “My complete focus is on LAFC and my country—nothing else.”

As the upcoming transfer window approaches, several MLS players, including Brian Gutierrez, have been linked to high-profile clubs, with Chivas reportedly monitoring Gutierrez ahead of a potential transfer.

With LAFC set to face the Vancouver Whitecaps in the Western Conference semifinal on November 23, Son’s immediate goal is to contribute to the team’s playoff success. Since his arrival, LAFC’s performance has significantly improved, with their points-per-game average rising from 1.66 to 2.09 with Son in the lineup.

With the MLS Cup final scheduled for December 5, Son has the opportunity to conclude his inaugural partial season in Los Angeles with a championship.
