Robin van Persie will continue as the head coach of Feyenoord following the team’s loss to Sparta Rotterdam (3-4). According to general director Dennis te Kloese, terminating the head coach’s contract is not currently being considered. This assurance was provided by te Kloese in an interview with Algemeen Dagblad.

Feyenoord concluded the year 2025 poorly and has carried on into the new year with similar struggles. The Rotterdam side secured their last victory in early December, subsequently losing four matches and drawing two. This past weekend, another setback occurred as Sparta managed to clinch a last-minute victory with a score of 3-4 at De Kuip. The pressure on Van Persie is mounting, but te Kloese emphasized that the board is not contemplating his dismissal at this time.

The supporters, however, are losing patience. Many fans have expressed their dissatisfaction with Van Persie’s performance on social media. A notable sentiment among the supporters is that Van Persie should consider stepping down for the benefit of the club. One fan suggested, ‘Van Persie out, and let René Hake finish the season.’ Others echoed similar concerns, stating that Van Persie still has much to learn and is making questionable decisions. Calls for him to resign are becoming increasingly vocal, highlighting the urgent need for a turnaround at Feyenoord.
