Telstar has garnered consistent praise this season for their on-field performance; however, their points tally remains disappointingly low. Following the home match against AZ, which ended in a 0-1 defeat, coach Anthony Correia voiced his frustrations regarding the officiating.

During the match, Telstar was denied a crucial penalty that could have changed the outcome. Forward Kay Tejan was clearly held back by AZ’s goalkeeper, Jeroen Zoet, during a promising scoring opportunity, yet the referee chose not to award a penalty. Correia reacted strongly after reviewing the footage on ESPN, stating, “Oh, how unfortunate! This is truly distressing. It genuinely hurts a lot; I never anticipated it to be this severe.”

On the other hand, for AZ, this victory marked their first three points under interim manager Lee-Roy Echteld. The temporary successor to Maarten Martens noted that his team struggled significantly before halftime. “We were under immense pressure. Telstar is performing exceptionally well, applying considerable pressure and denying us space. When they also win their duels, it becomes incredibly challenging to break through. We were unable to find our rhythm,” he acknowledged.
