Tensions arose midweek when cameras captured Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice and assistant coach Albert Stuivenberg in a heated exchange at halftime during the match against Chelsea.

With Arsenal leading 1-0, thanks to Ben White’s header, Rice and Stuivenberg, who is often nicknamed ‘AirPods Albert’ for his earpiece usage during games, were seen disputing in the tunnel. Reports from the Daily Mail indicate that Rice expressed frustration, reportedly shouting, “he doesn’t know what he’s on about,” followed by an exclamation of exasperation.

Despite the earlier disagreement, Rice and Stuivenberg shared a warm embrace when Rice was substituted in the 82nd minute of the League Cup semi-final at Stamford Bridge. Arsenal secured a 3-2 victory over Chelsea, with contributions from Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi, alongside White’s initial goal. Chelsea remains in contention for the return leg at the Emirates Stadium, following a brace from substitute Alejandro Garnacho.

When questioned about the incident between Rice and Stuivenberg before Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League match against Nottingham Forest, Coach Mikel Arteta remarked, “[It’s] all sorted, all good.” He acknowledged Rice’s passion for success, stating that the issue was resolved by the time he learned of it, which he viewed positively.

Arteta and Stuivenberg forged a close relationship while studying for their UEFA A coaching licenses in Cardiff, and Stuivenberg brings extensive experience from previous roles, including a lengthy tenure at Feyenoord and a position as assistant coach under Louis van Gaal at Manchester United.

Following recent successes in the FA Cup and Carabao Cup, Arsenal looks to continue their strong league performance against Nottingham Forest, who currently sit 17th in the Premier League after losing four of their last five matches. Arteta emphasized the challenges of winning away games in the Premier League, praising Forest’s efficient play and the impact of their manager, Sean Dyche.

Regarding the overall atmosphere within the Arsenal squad, Arteta noted their current 10-game unbeaten streak since losing to Aston Villa in early December, expressing confidence in their momentum and consistency as they prepare for their next challenge. “We are building very good momentum, and belief comes from performances,” he stated, highlighting their strong showing at Stamford Bridge.
