After the Eredivisie match between Feyenoord and Sparta Rotterdam, significant tensions arose at De Kuip, both in front of the cameras and reportedly in the locker room.

According to the Algemeen Dagblad, coach Robin van Persie and player Quinten Timber had a confrontation in the locker room. The outlet noted that Van Persie expressed dissatisfaction with Timber, and vice versa. Furthermore, the newspaper highlighted concerns regarding the overall relationship between Van Persie and other staff members, citing general director Dennis te Kloese: “More details are emerging about the strained relationship between Van Persie and others. It’s clear that the issues are not resolved with Timber’s departure.”

When asked if there was any possibility of reconciliation for Timber, Van Persie replied, “If you ask me personally, as I do not solely make that decision, I believe there is no way back. I evaluate a player based on their performance, and I find a lack of genuine intent in both defense and attack. If this persists over time, the consequence will be that the player remains on the bench.”
