Thiago Fernández is experiencing his initial days as a player for Real Oviedo with enthusiasm and a sense of opportunity. The Argentine forward, on loan from Villarreal, celebrated his return to the pitch and the immediate impact he made on the team. “It is truly a great joy, not only to return to the field but also to be able to help the team,” he remarked following his debut.

The new addition to the squad explained that his move was driven by a clear need for continuity. “I came to Oviedo to gain playing time. When I was informed that the club was interested and that I could start playing, I did not hesitate,” he stated, noting that he embraced the challenge despite the team’s current standings. “I was aware that it wasn’t an easy situation, but someone coming from outside tries to bring renewed energy.”

Fernández highlighted the relief that came with the team’s recent victory, expressing his hope that it would serve as a turning point. “It was a relief for everyone, and with that relief, we can begin to improve the situation,” he commented, confident that the group has room for growth.

Physically, he expressed calmness after a prolonged recovery process. “I had a very good recovery. I was sidelined for a year, but now I am at a hundred percent whenever the coach decides to use me,” he explained, adding that his goal is to continue gaining rhythm and minutes on the field.

One aspect that surprised him upon arrival was the camaraderie within the locker room. “I found an extraordinary, closely-knit group that works hard and felt they deserved more points,” he acknowledged. “Fortunately, we were able to achieve that this weekend.”

Regarding the team’s struggles with scoring, Thiago downplayed the situation. “In football, everything comes in cycles. The other day we managed to break one, and now it’s time for everyone, not just the attackers, to gain confidence.”

On a personal note, the Argentine describes himself as a creative player. “I have always played as an attacking midfielder, although I feel more comfortable as a left winger now,” he explained. “Wherever I am needed, I will give my best.”

Feeling emotional, he confessed that the end of the match was particularly intense for him. “I released a lot of accumulated tension from a challenging year. The first thing I did was look for my family in the stands, as they have always been there for me.”
