In an impressive showcase, Bayern Munich standout Tom Bischof not only celebrated a significant victory but also earned a hat-trick in Germany’s U21 squad’s commanding 6-0 triumph over Malta. While Bischof’s fellow teammate Lennart Karl enjoyed scoring two goals, it was Bischof’s three stunning long-range strikes that captured the spotlight and underscored his role as the U21 captain.

Bischof, who has already made an appearance for Germany’s senior team, faced the challenge of adapting to a new level when he joined Antonio Di Salvo’s DFB Juniors in October. Despite a rocky start in the U21 setup, last night’s performance certainly overshadowed any previous struggles.

Reflecting on his achievement, Bischof shared, “I’ve scored a hat-trick at the U16 and U17 levels, but unfortunately not at club level yet. I practiced my finishing yesterday and feel confident in my shooting. I didn’t expect to score three goals, but I did hope for a substantial win. This victory has instilled a lot of confidence in us, especially as we created several chances; we could have scored even more.”

Despite his constructive critique regarding potential missed opportunities, Bischof expressed great satisfaction with both his “Man-of-the-Match” ball and the trust shown in him by being appointed captain.

On the subject of his new accolade, Bischof noted, “First, everyone signs the MOTM ball. I have a small memorabilia corner at my parents’ house. There isn’t much there yet, but with this ball, there are now four pieces, and I hope to add more in the future.”

Regarding the captaincy, he stated, “I was very happy about that. It’s a tremendous responsibility and a wonderful feeling to lead Germany onto the pitch wearing the armband. It motivates me further and boosts my self-confidence, but I would have approached the task with the same commitment even without the armband.”
