Tottenham Hotspur has officially announced the signing of defender Hanna Wijk from BK Hacken on a long-term contract, pending international clearance and a work permit.

At just 22 years old, Wijk becomes the inaugural signing of the current transfer window for Martin Ho’s squad, which currently holds the fifth position in the Women’s Super League (WSL) after securing six victories in their first eleven matches.

Having joined Hacken at the age of 16, Wijk has made a significant impact on her team, totaling 107 appearances since her debut in 2020, in addition to earning one cap for the Swedish national team.

“It feels great to be here; I got goosebumps when I put on the shirt,” Wijk shared. “Moving abroad from Sweden to play in this league has always been my dream. I love this league and have watched it closely from home, so I am truly looking forward to competing in England, and particularly for Spurs.”

Head coach Martin Ho remarked, “Hanna was highly sought after in the market, and we are thrilled that she chose Tottenham Hotspur as the right club for the next phase of her career. Her decision reflects the ambition of our project and the clear pathway we offer. We are confident that she will develop with us while enhancing the competitive standards of our team.”

Furthermore, Wijk’s teammate at Hacken, Matilda Nilden, aged 21, remains a target for Tottenham, while the club is also optimistic about securing Japan international Maika Hamano, 21, on loan from Chelsea.
