Tottenham Initiates Talks to Acquire Andy Robertson from LiverpoolTottenham Initiates Talks to Acquire Andy Robertson from Liverpool

Tottenham Hotspur has commenced negotiations with Liverpool regarding the potential acquisition of left-back Andy Robertson.

The 31-year-old Scotland international is set to be out of contract at Anfield this summer and recently expressed uncertainty about his future. This season, Robertson has started in only four Premier League matches and is eager for regular playing time as he prepares for the World Cup.

Sources indicate that Tottenham has reached out to Liverpool, although no agreement has been finalized as of yet.

Robertson joined Liverpool from Hull City for £8 million in 2017, during Jurgen Klopp’s tenure, and has since made 363 appearances for the club. His latest outing was as a substitute in the 1-1 draw against Burnley on January 17.

Liverpool’s head coach, Arne Slot, acknowledged Robertson’s significant contributions to the team and commended his professionalism in adapting to the loss of his starting role to summer signing Milos Kerkez.

Should Robertson depart, Kerkez would be the only experienced left-back available to Slot, although Liverpool might consider recalling Kostas Tsimikas from his loan at Roma.

Tottenham recently secured Brazilian left-back Souza, and with players like Destiny Udogie and Djed Spence in the squad, they are already well-equipped in that position. However, with Ben Davies sidelined for the rest of the season due to a broken ankle, the need for an experienced addition like Robertson becomes more pressing.

Bringing in Robertson could enhance Spurs’ squad depth and experience, as Davies is currently the only player over the age of 30.

During his time at Liverpool, Robertson has won nine trophies, including two Premier League titles and the Champions League.
