Travel Disruptions Affect Athletic Club Fans Heading to Bergamo

This morning’s strong winds have severely impacted the travel plans of many Athletic Club fans heading to Bergamo. Several flights intended to transport them to Milan or Barcelona, from where they would connect to Bergamo, have been canceled. This travel disruption has prompted efforts to activate the use of tickets, as many supporters are already in the city but lack guaranteed access to the stadium.

The process of circulating these tickets is complicated, as each ticket is assigned to a specific individual. The ticket sales protocol includes a travel itinerary for each attendee as a security measure. Nonetheless, some fans who are unable to arrive on time are considering transferring their tickets. In some cases, tickets are even being given away. Approximately one thousand Athletic Club members secured tickets for the match from a pool of over 8,000 applicants.

The strong winds have also forced the cancellation of several flights at Loiu Airport. Nearly 200 affected individuals have accepted an alternative offered by Easyjet, which involves traveling by road to Bordeaux and then taking a flight to Milan early in the afternoon. However, this route presents significant challenges, as the flight must depart no later than 5 PM for fans to arrive in time for the match, following their subsequent road journey to Bergamo.
