Trinity Rodman Listed as Questionable for NWSL Quarterfinal vs Racing Louisville

Washington Spirit forward Trinity Rodman remains questionable for Saturday’s NWSL quarterfinal as she continues to recover from a sprained MCL sustained last month.

Rodman Limited in Training

During Friday’s media-open session in Leesburg, Rodman did not take part in the initial training drills and was instead seen working separately in the gym. She later joined her teammates toward the end of practice.

Rodman, a key figure for the U.S. women’s national team, was officially listed as questionable on the league’s availability report for the match against Racing Louisville.

Coach González: “We Are Optimistic”

Spirit head coach Adrián González declined to offer a definitive update, stating that Rodman—and others—are being evaluated day-to-day.

“She has shown strong commitment to her recovery and is making progress,” González said. “We are optimistic.”

Rodman did not speak to reporters following training.

Playoff Stakes and Team Approach

Washington enters the playoffs as the No. 2 seed for the second straight season. A win at Audi Field would send the Spirit to the NWSL semifinal against either Portland or San Diego.

Midfielder Hal Hershfelt described the mindset as determined and grounded:

“We are hungry and ready to fight. Seeding means nothing in the playoffs.”

González emphasized the need to stay compact defensively and control second balls to avoid Louisville’s transition threat.

Rodman’s Injury Context

Rodman has recorded five goals and two assists in nine games this season. She sprained her MCL on October 15 during the Spirit’s 4-0 win over Monterrey in the Concacaf W Champions Cup.

The injury came just hours after her first USWNT call-up in six months. Rodman’s recovery followed previous setbacks, including a recurring back issue that limited her appearances throughout the past year.

Spirit’s Squad Depth Improves

In addition to Rodman, Croix Bethune (thigh), Leicy Santos (illness), and Deborah Abiodun (ankle) were unavailable last week, but all took part in training on Friday.

Tara McKeown noted: “We’ve got depth now and excitement in the group. We’re ready to play at home in front of our fans.”
