Two Brothers Banned for Fraudulent Entry into Football MatchTwo Brothers Banned for Fraudulent Entry into Football Match

Two brothers, Kane and Dale Green, aged 29 and 31, have been banned from attending football matches for three years after attempting to gain unauthorized entry to a sold-out football match.

The incident occurred less than an hour before the highly anticipated south coast derby between Southampton and Portsmouth in September. The brothers, supporters of Portsmouth, arrived at St Mary’s Stadium dressed in high-visibility vests and equipped with radio gear to blend in with the stadium staff.

Living in Portsmouth, the brothers pleaded guilty to charges of fraud by false representation and unlawfully entering a playing area during a football match. They were subsequently ordered to pay fines and costs amounting to just over £1,000 each.

Following their arrest, Kane Green revealed that their scheme was devised “just in case” they were unable to purchase tickets outside the venue.

Assistant Chief Constable Tony Rowlinson commented, “This was a ridiculous plot to try and see the game, despite the knowledge that tickets were sold out and that those without tickets would not gain entry. They clearly came with the intention to illegally enter the stadium, donning steward attire and one even carrying a radio and earpiece.

“However, they underestimated the professionalism and vigilance of the club’s security team and our officers, who swiftly recognized their lack of accreditation and collaborated to remove them from the venue.”
