A 2-2 draw against Union Berlin on Saturday brought Bayern Munich’s historic winning streak to an end. Goalkeeper and captain Manuel Neuer was quick to take responsibility for the first points the team has dropped this season across all competitions. Union Berlin opened the scoring in the 27th minute at the Stadion An der Alten Försterei. The goal resulted from a mistake by Neuer. Danilho Doekhi scored from close range after the Bayern captain mishandled a save attempt following a corner. Neuer had received widespread praise earlier in the week for his man-of-the-match performance in Bayern’s Champions League win over PSG. However, he openly acknowledged his error against Union. “The view and distance weren’t ideal for me,” Neuer told Sky Germany. “But I made the wrong decision. Those set pieces really hurt us. The second goal involved a clearance that should have been handled by Harry Kane, but I was also responsible for the first goal we conceded. It was difficult to play here today.” Post navigation Königsdörffer’s Breakthrough Goal Secures Point for Hamburg Against Dortmund
